What I’m Doing Now
Updated 6/15/2025
1. Security Contests
I’ve been competing in web3 security contests since last August. It has been insanely fun and also humbling.
I landed my first top 3 finished (2nd place in the Gamma Strategies contest) a couple months ago, so I’m working hard right now to fill skill / knowledge gaps so I can repeat that result consistently.
2. “State of Web3 Security Contests” Report
There are a lot of questions I have about the web3 security contest space that a lot of other people do too:
How is pot size per nSLOC trending?
What platform has the most competition?
What types of contests have the lowest / highest participation?
What’s the difference in turnout between conditional versus non-condition pots?
Since all this data is public, I decided to take on this project. There’s a lot of data and many ways to look at it so my plan is to:
“Analyze in public”, posting threads on X as I go to gather feedback from the community.
When I finish my analysis, I’ll use all my threads and feedback to create a “State of Web3 Security Contests” report.
A lot is changing right now in the space so I figured it’s important to make this data available to everyone.
About Me
Before finding web3 security, I spent 10 years living at the intersection of data scientist and growth marketer.
I built data pipelines, wrote SQL and Python, and created lots of charts, while also running paid ads and doing SEO.
I eventually started my own company, an SEO firm that helped companies use data to more efficiently plan their SEO strategy. After 5 years of running it, I sold it to another firm.
My favorite books are Atlas Shrugged, Ready Player One, and the Red Rising series.
I’m a health freak currently living on a beach close to the equator eating tropical fruit and surfing most morning.
I hate the word “work life balance” and like working 7 days a week because work is one of my hobbies.
